Love it Paul.......processing spot on......do you use NIK Sislver Efex too?

FUJI

Thank you Fuji.:smiling:

Fuji  I tried it as it was free but could not get on with it. Nearly all my workflow now mostly consists of raw processing in Capture One 9 Pro,one of the few raw programs that uses layers and if needed( which is rarely) further editing in ON1 Photo 10 which is very good at B&W.

The black sky does not sit so comfortable for me Paul. I like the composition and the bandstand certainly makes an interesting subject.

Thanks for the comments Kevin. every one has different tastes, here I was going for a dramatic surreal look, but with that sky which was a dark blue I can can change the tone on demand Just for you below.:smiling:

The......Black Sky......debate is as old as photography I think?

Like in all my previous interests, I immerse myself totally in all that has gone before, eventually ending up with an extensive library of relevant books; my current Photography library extends to over sixty volumes so far......much to the dispair of my missus.

When Mono Photography  was the norm.......a processed dramatic Black Sky seemed to win over shades of grey for blue skies ......... Since Colour Photography, took over, differences of opinion have increased ........

To those looking at photographs in the past, black sky, where it would have really been blue was fully accepted, even in the old black and white films.....since then our perception has altered to become more sophisticated ........or.......has it?

I'm  a little bit with Kevin mostly on this one Paul ....  That particular sky   make the shadows look  wrong for me ...  it causes a conflict  for me a  bit like the Magritte's Empire of Light

https://theartstack.com/artist/rene-magritte/empire-light-1953-4

It does challenge  our persception of normality ...and if that is what you wanted to  do ..causing it to look like a paradox  then .. I guess you have succeeded ... so it makes you look twice which is what most artists want ... someone to  be provoked  into  thinking about what they see ...  An interesting attention grabber   whatever  one thinks  ... Hope you are enjoying your new camera by the way ...:10_wink:
