This beautiful sculpture remains in the front garden of the amazing man who carved her..................I have been fascinated by her since I was a child.

She was carved by local but internationally known Scuptor Walter Ritchie, his outdoor studio was very close the centre of town, and right up until he died he could often be seen and heard chipping away at the stone or brick of his latest commission:

He was an Architectural Sclulptor who carved many very distinctive Brick Panel for many public buildings...especially schools.....A set of these panels have been moved from Coventry Precincts on to a wall of the City's Herbert Art Gallery and Museum....catch them in the right light and they are amazing....See here.........

I am guessing that this was an early, very personal work...............I am always amazed that it stays were it is....a treasure and a pleasure to behold:

Converted, then prcessed in CS3 with a touch on the TOPAZ filter's pedal:

Best viewed LARGE....Click on Pic.

I did a little research on Walter Ritchie and it turns out he was an apprentice to Eric Gill who was a VERY controversial sculpture. Both are well worth a goggle on Google.

Great stuff, Fooj, thanks for posting this one.
