A 'Kelly day'...

Recommended Posts

Kelly has been having some problems recently when she keeps on trying to swallow something - almost like us if you imagine a hair, stuck at the back of your throat and it won't clear. Yesterday she had a really bad 'choking' episode in the morning and I rushed her off to the vet, to get in early without scheduling an appointment. Turned out to be a long day, because yes, they did take her in to have a look down the throat, which meant sedation, but they also had their other scheduled appointments, and 4 serious emergencies came in through the day - one snake bite, and one problem which required serious quarantine issues. Finally got Kelly home about 7.00pm and this is what they removed from her throat:

4 very nasty and sharp pieces of grass, actually stuck in the little pouch that the tonsils rest in, and because of the angle they were lodged at, every time she swallowed they scratched her throat and the tonsils. All ok now, except for a pretty sore throat, and she has eaten her breakfast and downed her antibiotics. Should be a 'more restful' day!! :D

Thanks Judy, Paul and Terry. Today was a quiet recovery day and her tea has just gone down, with her anti- inflammatory in and both her antibiotic tablets. Off mowing tomorrow, so that will be a controlled day for her too. Paul what has Bilbo had to go for? Hope he's ok.

Paul what has Bilbo had to go for? Hope he's ok.

Being a little kitten, it appears (so we understand from the vet) that the kitten food from Whiskas (and maybe other brands) is a bit rich for his tummy and he just recently has started being sick almost each day. It has started suddenly though, so perhaps he is getting too many other tasty things (he likes ham of the bone for instance, just a tiny bit mind you) so he has been to the vet for a third time, this time for medicine to settle his tummy and "gentle" kitten food. That's on top of 2 separate visits for conjunctivitis and sneezing bouts...

Paul.
