Upgrade from Cokin filters

Recommended Posts

I have a set of resin Cokin grads.

They give awful color cast and they flare terribly.

Any advice on what to replace them with?  Around the £100 mark ideally but open to suggestions.

Something that fits my existing P adapter would be beneficial.

Thanks all.

I was going to suggest Lee Filters - a bit pricey at almost £200 for a set of 3 and you would need a 100mm filter holder.

I haven't used the following, but seen good reviews...

Formatt Hitech 100mm Graduated Neutral Density Kit (0.3, 0.6, 0.9) - £98.55
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009A3KLT8

You'd still need a 100mm filter holder - xcsource (on amazon) do one for 11.99

I also have a set of the Cokin Grads/Full ND filters and they do give a rather purpleish cast to them - even worse if you stack 2 together. I did look at getting a set of Lee Filters myself, but couldn't reall justify the expense - I know Lee's Big Stopper is usually always on top in reviews - but again couldn't justify the expense of the filter, holder and adapter ring...

Think I've only used my ND Filters 3 times in 18 months....

I agree, the N in ND stands for Neutral not purpleish or whatever, I suppose like everything you gets what you pay for and if they do what they say they do then sometimes the prices justifies it. I'd love to be able to afford a few sets of Lee Filters just so I could try them out... sadly I can't , probably like most people.
