  1. Thanks, yeah it was my son who got hurt. He was the last soldier on the back of a troop carrier going into a skirmish. As it stopped the tail gate failed and dropped open, taking him with it. He's fine, was more shaken up than anything, the staff were brilliant looking after him.
  2. Some beautiful shots there! Hard to pick a favourite, love them all!
  3. Love the colour in that first shot.
  4. More shots on my website at https://www.matthewgrey.co.uk/Event-Photography/Warag-2023/ if anyone wants to take a look.
  5. My son is a member of the D Day Dodgers, a WW2 re-enactment group. We took him away to WarAg in Somerset for a weekend of skirmishes meeting up with hundreds of other re-enactors from around the country. A brilliant weekend and highly recommended, even if, like me, you have little interest in the military. Unfortunately there was a small incident involving being thrown out the back of a troop carrier and falling 7ft to the ground followed by a short trip to minor injuries! Thankfully just some bumps and bruising.
  6. I don't often photograph gardens or flowers, but I found myself with an hour to kill wandering around Trengwainton Gardens and could not resist capturing this little bridge. Trengwaiton Gardens, Madron, Cornwall, UK. EOS 6D : EF 70-200 F4L : 73mm / F8 / 1/320sec ISO 1000
  7. I wasn't keen on the building either but I wanted to keep the steps going up the headland and this was the best crop I found to fit them in. There's also a cafe and a car down there that I had to work around.
  8. I'm sure I've shared many photos of this place on here before...but it's still on of my favourite spots to photograph. EOS 6D : EF 17-40 F4L : 17mm / F8 / 15sec 10 stop ND
  9. I prefer the red too. Unfortunately they're not an option in my woods.
  10. I don't often shoot animals, but I am sucker for a friendly squirrel!
  11. Brilliant shot and a great choice!
  12. Have to agree with Clicker. I love shots of water, but also love to see what the water is doing. Once any movement has been blurred away, it loses some of it's magic. Totally subjective of course.
  13. I've been to Godrevy Beach more times than I can count, not sure why I've never really looked over towards Gwithian and Hayle? I guess the lighthouse just looks so tempting and I forgot to look the other way. So today, I looked the other way and I'm glad I did! Waiting for a wave Gwithian Beach, Cornwall, UK. EOS 6D : EF 17-40 F4L : 17mm / F11 / 3.2sec 10 Stop ND
  14. Great choice! I see hundreds of aircraft shots on various forums and media but rarely see one executed so perfectly. They are either out of focus, massively cropped leaving no detail, blurry or lacking movement in the props...this one just gets everything spot on!
  15. I had my BIG wellies on! Never considered waders before! What a good idea!
  16. After a failed attempt at some long exposures off the Hayle Harbour last night, I walked past this little view on the way back the car. It's not a scene I'd usually photograph but the light caught my attention and I couldn't resist.
  17. I'm not sure why it wasn't reopened. At least there is no mention of this in any of the history I have read. Perhaps the damage from the previous explosions were too extensive to make it worthwhile. The company who initially owned the works had already relocated, so perhaps they did supply the war effort, just not from this site.
  18. Kennall Vale is one of my favourite spots to photograph, and being just down the road makes it even better! I'm sure I've posted about it here before, but just in case....It's an abandoned gunpowder mill that became derelict in 1910 after a number of explosions and deaths. The workings occupy a secluded river valley and when in operation included some 56 buildings. Now, all that remains are the old water mills houses, a few stores and the many man made leats that powered the mills. This was taken with me stood up to my knees in the river at the base of the mills.
