Glad you liked Haugh Wood Polly!  It's one of my favourite places (just under 10 miles from me) to visit in summer with so many species of butterflies to see and photograph.

I got this from the Forestry Commission site:

The name Haugh, which is pronounced "Hoff" is derived from the name of a Saxon owner indicating that this is the site of an ancient wood. Haugh Woods, at nearly 350 hectares (850 acres), is nationally important for butterflies and moths, with over 600 species recorded within it. This makes the wood one of the top 10 woods in the country and is designated as a SSSI due to the presence of these invertebrates.

We were very impressed with it John ... We will no doubt be visiting it again as it's only 45 minutes away from us and a very pleasant ride out anyway ... Thanks again for pointing us in that direction .. ...Cheers:cheers:

Took 209 photos on Saturday and over half of them are of the Common Blue .... I must have easily seen four dozen Paul ... I have a few others that I will be checking to see what they are ...only saw one peacock  though   . Nearly all the blues were on the car park side almost directly opposite the sign showing the Nature reserve... about 20 minutes from the end on the main track . Good hunting  if you have the weather for a trip  .  :)

I think the second one is my favourite of your butterfly shots, Polly - delicate and really nicely composed :)

it's my fave  so far too Judy... Thanks ...I was really surprised at the numbers I saw that afternoon...I'd only ever seem one before in the garden adjacent to the field next to us about six years ago.

Thanks BP for your comments...appreciate you saying why you find an image pleasing  or not...not everyone knows why a particular image "speaks " to them ...

That second shot really is lovely, the soft tones and that hint of magenta from the flower transforms the whole image.

It's helpful to see what it is that others find works for them in an image... Thanks ..
