Owls

Recommended Posts

Thanks Chrissy, if I can get a picture of a Puffin anywhere close to these I'll be pleased.. The Barn Owl is tricky with all the white and easy to blow the highlights. I do like the Barn Owl one, he'd just spotted Andy who was coming to take him from the viewing area to flying area, so he got really excited just after that shot. Actually a lot of the birds do the same the Boobook Owl and both the American and English Kestrels did the same.

Thanks Korky, Tina and VW, they are all lovely birds and it's great to be able to see them so close, even if they are captive bred. Until recently I didn't know Tawny Owls came in 2 different colours, there's the brown coloured one, as in pic #1, but they also come in a grey version. The Eurasian Eagle Owl is amazing, I think the one I've posted is Checkers - he's a bit of a movie star. He was the first animal to be photograhed using a Photron SA-2 High definition high speed camera, which takes a 1000fps, that footage was used in the Spike Jonze film Her.
