CANINE INTELLIGENCE......

 This pic has made the whole of our family laugh today..... My 20 yr old granddaughter keeps rare-breed sheep...as a keen, very bright young helper she has...MIST....her Welsh Border Collie.........

...Mist has some very peculiar ways, loves playing ball, obeys instructions immediately.... doesn’t like me at all....avoiding me at all costs.... but throwing her ballmy way when I’m not looking....she is devoted to her family.......except for me....

Apparently she had been cruelly treated as a pup...so, perhaps her tormentor was a tall grey haired guy wearing glasses....occasionally she might side up....touch me with her nose...then run and hide...ears flat..... 

Today, during the hottest part of the day....she calmly and deliberately put herself into a cattle drinking trough......... what a pooch?

Common sense on a hot day Fuji - she's not silly!

Shame she doesn't quite 'take to you' but, as you said you don't know her exact past history. We had one dog that was the same when I was a teenager. We were warned about his past - left in a house, shut in a wardrobe for quite a long time before being rescued, but he always feared and reacted badly to people in uniform for the rest of his life.
