Pardon My Fringe

James, Rye, thanks for your comments.

James, I think that the vignette is perhaps too absolute in the bottom corner but it was meant to hide precisely some of what is there i.e. the clutter so that the focus would be the high key presentation of the horse.  My own doubts weren't centred on that so much as the lack of eye contact due to the fringe.  A club judge might well comment on this because eye contact and a slanting eye line seem to be de rigueur at the moment even for nature images.  I wondered whether this would override any other qualities.

The border somehow seems at odds with the vignette especially as the image extends beyond it. Otherwise, a nice image - the lack of eye contact doesn't worry me.

Agreed.  I think it needs a border.  This is what is sometimes known as a key line but containing the image within would be better and would to a degree reduce the problem that James was seeing.  Thanks for the input.

I 'd be interested to see what the original was like  John ... There might have been an alternative to  the  vignette  to obliterate the "clutter " ... The  eye contact doesn't matter to me ... it's in the context  with that fringe  innit !
;)
