I spotted this guy a few weeks back at Trentham Gardens and stole a candid. He looks like ex-army to me and a tough character. Fuji X-T2 and 90mm Lens.

Brave shot but a good one.  Particularly like the processing.  Brave because I am generally wary of surreptitiously photographing any one  with all over tattoos, wearing pierced nose/ear/tongue ornaments or black leather gloves.

Thanks, but not as brave as you think because I shot with a 135mm equivalent lens from wait level so it looked like I was reviewing previous shots. I would have liked to ask for a shot but was sure I would not get an shot like this.

Love this study Bill......but you were  chicken by not using a nifty-fifty or a 30 mm like I do....get in close, be invisible....Go for it man..

Love that angle Bill with just the sky as the backdrop ... really adds to the drama ...and who would have thought a bloke eating an ice cream could look so menacing and dramatic eh!

Ah if only but he was sitting amid tables at a cafe so no way I could have done that un-noticed. Glad that you are healing / being repaired.

Excellent portrait, Bill. I'm amazed that this is a candid photo. Love the angle with the dark sky behind and the processing that emphasizes the toughness of the man. 

You're probably right about the army connection. Does his wristband say Afghanistanhero?

There is something incongruent about the ice-cream cone that adds interest.

It does indeed. 

A tough guy with an ice cream - definitely incongruous.
