I met this huge but extremely friendly ...ALASKAN MALAMUTE.... dog last weekend at our local Christmas Fair.

 

His owners absolutely dote on him and he them.

It is well worth You-Tubing the breed, they have special characteristics, such as self cleansing coats, they shed a whole coat quite quickly, they have enormous pulling power plus much more.

They do get mistaken for Huskies, but they have blue eyes, are smaller and hold their tails differently.

Beautiful dogs, Fuji. Just imagine vacuuming the lounge carpet after a moult!

Now here's something you wouldn't credit. We have Dog Sled racing in the bush outside Wedderburn. They have teams of 1,2 and 4 Malamutes and Huskies pulling sleds with wheels. I keep meaning to take my camera but only seem to find out after the event.
