    POTW - w/e 27/11/16

Before I get to the POTW, a couple of honourable mentions. FUJI's Eye Contact caught my eye for its clarity and capture of a real character. And chorleyjeff's Tenby Sunset appealed with its gorgeous sky and almost deserted feeling. But my choice this week is another one by chorleyjeff - Tintern Abbey. As I said on his post, this abbey has been photographed millions of times, but Jeff has managed to get a new angle on it, with some lovely soft colouring. He was successful in cutting out any modern items, and as a couple of people said, it's almost like a painting. The original thread is here. Edited to say sorry the image is so big, but it wouldn't link, so I had to paste it.
  2. A good choice - well done Colin!
  3. A good choice - well done Ryewolf!

    POTW - w/e 23/10/16

My choice for POTW this week was difficult, as there have been some pretty brilliant images. However, I've settled for this one by Rogerw. It's not easy to photograph a kingfisher - I've only ever seen one in my life, and they move so fast! This image shows great skill and patience, and to top it all, it has a lovely plain background. Well done Roger! Original thread is here.

    Come and join us!

Anyone on the POTW rota, your turn will come round one week sooner as Kev is unable to do his next one. If anyone else wants to join the panel, let me know - we could do with a few more.

Well done Sir Korks! A well-deserved winner.

    POTW - 25/9/16

A few images caught my eye this week, but none more so than this one. It's beautifully sharp with great feather detail, and those eyes are mesmerising! The out of focus background is perfect. I give you 'You are being watched' by JHFoto. Well done JH! Original thread is here.

Hi Fuji I couldn't resist doing a drawing of Big Ollie from your recent photo. If you would like it, PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

Yep, it's me again! It's actually my turn this time. Two pictures really stood out for me this week: a close second was Phil's Corgarff Castle, but the one that I keep going back to is this one, by Bill. The colours, the way the light hits the Cobb and the tops of the waves, plus the simplicity of the composition, all make it a total wall-hanger for me. Well done Bill! Original thread is here.

I'm standing in for Chris today, as the forum is doing very strange things on his computer. The image that has really attracted me this week is Ternand, by Kev7d. It's a lovely bright summery picture, and really makes me want to walk into it. The bright flowers also make a lovely splash of colour against the neutral tones of the path and the buildings. Well done Kev! Original thread is here.
