I don't really like the colour pop either, however the girls mum, and my other half really like it! and the colour version did print a little dark, looked fine on the screen in asda, never mind...
  2. I went to ASDA to get some prints done of the family I shot yesterday, think there were 10 10x8 prints. the lady behind the counter says to me "sorry sir but you can't take these as they are prints that a professional photographer has taken" how chuffed am I. so after filling a form in and showing her my facebook page she lets me take them now I know compared to some of you guys my portraits are far from professional grade, but it does make you all warm inside when someone else see'd them that way....
  3. right, a final edit as I have to have them printed and delivered tomorrow, I am giving her 3 10x8 hence the last one looks so square, the colour pop one ha been retouched as she likes it, I just removed the scratch on her hand plus some of the flaky skin near her mouth. original colour pop and nice warm edit..... you have no idea how long these took me tonight, I am quite pleased with the final version though opinions please..
  4. I'm going to Ingleton falls on the 7th May if anyone wants to tag along? http://www.ingletonwaterfallstrail.co.uk/location.php it's a fair hike at 4 miles over rocky ground but I'm going to take pictures, not fell running (that was consideration for anyone else I could run it if I wanted too ) if there is anyone far away I may be able to pick you up from a train station or whatever...

    edit this?

I did post a bad image purposely, I knew the colour was off that's why I posted it.... I sat for two hours trying to get rid of the yellowy cast.... I thank you all for giving it a go, I thought it was too far gone to rescue. Ihad thought of the mono version but I saw this as giving up. and as for phil..... dreary dull car photo from ME!!!! how dare you....

  7. new toy!!!! it's very heavy, only just fits in my camera bag whilst on the body, very fast focusing , I LOVE it..... a really good upgrade from the kit lens I have 2 portrait jobs this weekend so I'll put it through it's paces... just shame it's not F2.8 for or a 'L' but we can't have everything can we?

    EDITING

right... for all the ones between 60 and 96 years old please take a seat as this may cause some shock!! the other two reading please remain standing..... I think I have come to the conclusion I NEED to learn hoe to EDIT! I keep seeing my pictures then other people tweak them (likr the owl I think Phil did?) then I realize they could be so much more. I have photoshop CS2 and thats it, I dont want to shell any more money out for programs yet.. any tips on where to look? does anyone live somewhere near Bolton who could give me a few pointers? thanks, Leon..
  9. welcome back... need to go to penny flash again
  10. just ordered a Canon 17-85 IS lens should be here Wednesday
  11. I want the wider end of the lens, if I put EF on a crop sensor i'll be defeating the object of having wide angle.... think this is the reason I fell out with my nifty 50..
  12. with around £150 to spend on a 2nd hand wide to mis zoom lens I dont know what to choose. (needs to be EF-S fitment) which would you buy? http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk/used-equipment/used-lenses/used-canon-fit-lenses/canon-ef-s-17-85mm-f4-56-is-usm-2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sigma-DC-Aspherical-Macro-IF-17-70-mm-f-2-8-4-5-Lens-Canon-/111625632177?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19fd67f9b1 '> last time I had a Sigma lens I was not too impressed but your opinions please cheers, Leon
  13. I have the non IS one, on my crop sensor it does a very good job!! I paid £100 for mine last year after trading in my Sigma version.... MILES better

    in demand!

some time last year when I had my year long press access for Harewood hillclimb I put all my spare prints out on the rear shelf of my car with a business card in the middle hoping to sell the ones I had leftover, to my surprise I had a call from a young girl, turns out I had a print of her boyfriend that she wanted to purchase, good news. that was a year ago, today I receive a text from the same young lady asking me if I will go up to leeds to get shots of a friend who will be racing on his 70th birthday!! she also wants me to get more shots of her boyfriend while I'm there.... this year was supposed to be a race free year but being asked to go and to be offered money to go is brilliant! to say i'm chuffed is an under statement!
