WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES

Recommended Posts

Only two days separate these shots, not quite from the same place:

The Ford just around the corner from our house, you can see a small part of the Castle to the left:

You can see the normally quiet brook (Kids Paddle just upstram in summer) has burst its banks with a vengeance..............how folk can be daft enough to attempt driving through sometimes beats me..........a few thousand quids worth of car ruined to save a five minute detour:

A huge Arctic Truck got stuck the day before:

These are just reportage shots....the picturesque stuff follows soon:

Couple of good record shots there Fuji – you might want to contact the local rag to see if they can use them.

Some years ago I used to enjoy researching un-metaled roads and would often spend weekends trying to drive them, often coming across fords and river crossing. One of the basics before trying to cross is look at the land, in your right picture Fuji you can clearly see not only the hedgerow disappearing under the water the two tops of the railing posts just above the water line meaning there is a good chance of deep water. Add those together and it means get out and take a look before driving further or (as in your picture) end up stranded. And just in case anyone is thinking of doing this remember to also look at the flow – you would be surprise how easy even low water can sweep your vehicle sideways.
