Apart from the main Nikon site, can anyone tell me where I can get my D3000 serviced, it is long overdue!

Cameras don't need servicing, if it has a fault then check out your closest authorised service centre via google.

I have found several references online regarding servicing a camera, I thought they needed doing every 3-5 years. I bow to your knowledge of the Camera trade BP, and thanks for saving me money!

Just keep shooting and don't worry about it - average shutter actuation on the D3000 is 30k.

After that you need to decide if a new shutter is worth it or a new camera is in the offing.

I have mine serviced periodically as I worry about the weather seals dying. Not necessarily a problem depending on body.

Sometimes the manufacturer can pick up on a potential fault before it occurs and will replace many small parts as part of the service cost,you'll probably get a good sensor clean as part of the service too.

I always send mine to Canon though.

I suppose considering the service cost vs cost of body is worthwhile too.

When my sensor gets too dirty I take it to a local(ish) guy, seems spot on with me (APM in Old Eldon Square, Newcastle - if anyone is this way), Apart from that I do nothing except try and look after it :-)
