The Lido

Recommended Posts

The Lido at Grange Over Sands is earmarked for development so I thought I'd try to get some shots of it in it's current state before the chance disappeared. I took plenty of shots through the viewing holes in the fence, but there were weeds, scaffolding and general builders waste everywhere so I was a bit disappointed with the outcome. A hour later I walked back past the same spot and decided to randomly hold the camera up high standing on my tip toes to shoot through the wire over the top of the fence. The sun had already gone down and it was bitterly cold, but I managed to salvage these shots with a bit of cropping and rotating. Taken with my Fuji x100t.

I like the idea of  taking photos in the same spot over different periods  Martyn ...and  we are thinking of  starting a challenge on the Forum to   do exactly that .... so I hope that might encourage you  to take a few more  and earmark the spot   so that you can return at some time in the future to  do that too ....Maybe even  pics taken on your mobile using a  telescopic selfie  stick will at least capture  a few more  images to  record the views if  its really difficult to see through weeds and builders' paraphernalia.

There is something quite sad  to see   the decline of   what was   a thriving   iconic  Art Deco   facility... There are so few of these left now ... Hopefully it's redevelopment will be successful  for the North West ...  Maybe this is a good project to for our Macro  Meister Paul who has  made a lot of videos with his  new Drone ......

What do you say Paul ?😉
