It is a bit scary that Cheryl 😉... I have to ask though ...Why did you cut off the top of it's head ... or was it done for effect ....? It reminds be a bit of a very fierce headmistress I had ... same piecing  look that   made one shrink  in trepidation ... the only difference was she wore  pince nez on the end of a very similar beak !!

Thanks for the comments, Polly.
The angle of the head, looking down the beak is very reminiscent of a disapproving school mistress. A perfect description!
Of all the photos I’ve taken of Australian Ravens, I only have two where the raven is front on: this one with the head cut off; and another showing the whole head but less sharp. They generally avoid looking directly at me, I’ve noticed. This one was quite bold. It was one of a pair living in Brachina Gorge in outback South Australia where people sometimes camped. We were woken by the sounds of them searching for food amongst last night dishes. We camped there a couple of days and I get lots of photos of their behaviour.

I’d prefer not to crop the head and could make a composite of the two photos and add a pair of spectacles. Stay tuned.
