Our leaf-munchers are back.

Saw some scratty looking leaves on a couple of trees, and when I looked I saw these caterpillars back again! Not as many as last year, but they are still doing damage. Members of the Cup Moth family:

Thanks all. This one was one of the larger ones, but it wasn't easy to get him. I had to hold the leaf because of a nice breeze. I did accidentally come in to contact with the prickly bits near his head and had a strong itchy, stingy bit on my hand for about an hour!!

 

Tina they just totally strip leaves off some plants - native trees. If the tree is only in the sapling stage they don't survive. Last year was way worse than this.
