The 3 K's were all drawn to something on the ground, and I had to investigate, because of potential snake activity - but it wasn't - it was this:

A very young Shingleback. We haven't spotted one for a couple of years, and it's nice to know they are still around - at least it is for us :D

Richard they all do have a sort of 'grumpy' look, but they are harmless and can be quite docile, once they get used to you.

 

Bugs - he was well disguised - and so was his huge Mum, who was near him, and I nearly stood on her!! Glad I didn't.

 

Fuji, no, not really rare, but, as with some other wildlife, we are in the lucky minority that get to see them around. Our lifestyle would not be everybody's choice!!

 

Annie these are Shinglebacks, or Stumpy Tails - related to the Blue Tongue lizards, but quite a bit more 'robust' in build!!

 

Guessing this one was not long born, and he has just shed his skin.
