Popped out to get fuel last night, and accidentally ended up at my bridge again, like you do :-)

 

Been trying to use live view and manual focus with the camera in full manual mode recently, and I'm still a bit hitty missy, although I'm getting better (in my own, humble, opinion)

 

Stockton from the end of the bridge - cant even hear the fighting from here!!

No, the circular polariser was on, as it almost always is, but nothing else.  I think its a side effect of the long exposure times - someone what knows will be along soon and explain it, hopefully :-)

Star bursts are caused as light passes the aperture blades where they join in your lens and is scattered  The more you have the lens open the less the stars burst

There is also some relation to how many spikes a star has to the number of blades in your lens but I dont know what it is

So its all down to overexposed light rattling round your lens in a darkend enviroment
