LANDING INTO THE LIGHT

Here is just one of the 500 plus pics, that were laying, half forgotten, on the SD card of my SONY A55, all because, I just pick up one of my cameras whenever I go out....it seems that my SONY had been out far more times than I thought.

This is a Black Headed Gull landing literally...into the light......I had watched the gulls circling in fairly regular patters, as folks were throwing bread for them to catch. I noticed that they often flew through this patch of bright winter sun so waited for he moment....this is the best of many attempts:

A super-quick trigger finger is essential:

You're welcome - I selected the shady head using the magnetic lasso, then feathered it ( :D ) 1 pixel, and copied to a new layer. From there it was a matter of adjusting the levels, colour temperature and balance, then finally cloning gently with a soft brush and low opacity over the edge between the two layers. Then a final flatten and save. About 10 minutes in all.
