Each time I see them I think how surreal the landscape looks

Annie.... There wasn't much bug life, just a few large orange butterflies which were as fast as an F1 car and various flies etc, it's winter even in the Canary Islands.

Tina... it's actually fine grit that rained down in 1949 during the last major eruption. It's a bit like coke that's derived from coal but very small particles and very light weight because it's full of what was air bubbles. I like the crunchy noise it makes when walking on it...
