I've been looking around for a small rescue dog suited to our age for  a few days now
Yesterday I found a small dogs rescue in Walsall.

I emailed the lady who ran the rescue and then we had a long chat by phone and today the lady's husband came and gave us a home check and brought Evie over at the same time

It saved us from travelling quite a way on two trains and then a walk, so it did two jobs at the same time as we would have still had to wait for the home check.

Considering she has only been here a few hours, she seems to be settling in really well.
She is  Shi Tzu cross, approx 4 years old, and is really sweet.
The house seemed so empty with just the two ferrets.
They had been out for a long playtime before Evie arrived and she will gointo the hall or kitcj#hen for a while now, while the two fuzzies coome out for a second playtime before going to bed for the night.
She hasn't gone over to the cage at all so I am hoping that they will eventually get on together, but if not, then we will do our best to make sure they all get some freedom and are happy.

I'm not sure how to embed the slideshow into my post so if this doesn't work, can someone point me in the right direction.
Not very good pics as I didn't have time to change the settings/lens etc.

A great little dog Nanny......it even looks a bit like a ferret ;-)

If all goes well with the home-check......she will be one lucky dog.......love the ...Laughing Dog.......frame on the last but one slide:

Whenever I meet owners of miniature pooches, I always pass on the tip.......that they make wonderful removers of frost from car windscreens.......just use one side for the front, then turn the dog over for the rear screen.......use until they need re-warming:

(only joking)

Had better watch out then, as Evie would make a nice scrunchy duster. :w00t:

The man was quite happy and left Evie with us for her to start her new life in her forever home. Papers signed etc.

Angel bit the man who brought her. :blushing: but I guess he did smell a bit different as the people also have four dogs of their own.
Evie has gone into the kitchen and hall with her bedding while the ferrets have their second play.
The rescue is very small and only for small dogs.

They accept or even pick the dogs up from people who no longer can or want to keep them, and then they are re-homed with people of our age where they can get plenty of attention.
She is very sweet and seems to be very settled.

Guess whose bed she will be sleeping on tonight. lol.

Talking of dogs, that reminds me of cats, and therefore of Korky who hates them... Anyone know where our friend is, hasn't posted for a while?

He went on his annual holiday to Malta.......I reckon he should be back by now.

Thanks, Fuj and Heather. She is a little beauty and has been brought up well.

She belonged to an old lady who thought she couldn't manage her as the lady had developed bad legs.

The rescue lady said that she wouldn't need much walking but the lady was adamant that she wanted to give Evie up.

The rescue have the dogs in their house and treat them as their own while they are there, so it's a lot less traumatic for them that being in pens.
I hope I will get some natural light pics as her fur just bleached out, or or maybe up the shutter speed a lot more

She slept on the bed and was good all of last night.

I know she will bring us a lot of happiness.

She has nuzzled the ferrets very gently through the cage bars, but when Angel nuzzled her back, she jumped up in the air. lol.

I am taking no chance though as my ferrets are also my babies, so Evie has the run of the rest of the house and garden while the two fuzzies come out to play.
Ferrets can sleep up to 23 hours a day so it works well with none of them missing out on playtimes..
