Thanks for these poignant reminders of all those who fell during or as a direct cause of war.........I have just put my smart gear on including my Regimental Tie ( 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards) , ready to attend our local Service of Rememberence.

I attend every year to remember not only my dad who served in the Royal Artillery for 6 long years of war, but everyone else of his generation who are with us no longer. I served in Germany just a few kilometres from the site of the Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp, I visited there, with groups more than once............that was just ten years after the War finished so all was still very raw.

So, today, as you see thousands of pensioners wearing medals or not, please don't see them as the frailer figures of now, but as the young, youthful Serving members of the Armed and other Services who prevented the evil spread of nazism worldwide, it is to them that we owe the freedoms enjoyed by all today.

Should you not know of Bergen Belsen.....please look on Google.
