Fireworks

Recommended Posts

Smashing shot, Martyn. I'm glad you posted them as mine were rubbish.

We went to  a dis[play at the local ruby club and after a heavy downpour we went outside to watch,

The wind was terrible and was either blowing me about with the camera, or it was blowing the light trails on the fireworks.

There is only one place for them, and that's in the bin.

My legs were killing me and we were frozen.

I don't think a tripod would have helped either.
Never mind you learn from your mistakes don't you? and I did enjoy the display and had fun trying.

Yeah it was blowing a gale and precipitating profusely here too. I started out with a tripod but ended up hand held, most of mine ended up in the bin as well, I think there were 30 out of over 200 that I'm keeping.

Great set Martyn....and you didn't even have to go out in the cold :)

Woah there, hold on a minute! I had to open the window because the rain on the glass was causing blurriness. I had to withstand a chilly draught around my right ear and my right arm got dripped on by freezing cold water leaning out to get these shots. I'll have you know that I suffered for my art last night!   Mutter, mutter, chunder, whinge, whine & moan!     ;)

WOW! Martyn,

You have cracked this difficult genre of photography......shots 3-4 and 5 are absolute winners......you local paper or TV news program may like to feature them?

And here's me thinking you were a beginner ;-)

Beginner's luck Fuji, I used all your good luck up this weekend! ;)

I didn't even see any let alone shoot any :(

I can hear fireworks again tonight, maybe some folks postponed their big bangs for drier weather!

Great set, Martyn. You have caught the starbursts really well, and I like the effect the wind has added. Some lovely colour in there too. No fireworks at all near us, so something I very rarely get to see. Thanks for sharing, you did well :D

Cheers for that Colin. I don't have Photoshop so I've been playing around in GIMP. It took me a while to work out how to to get the layers so that I could see through them; I set the layer mode to "difference". Anyway, here is my attempt. I hope you realise that there will be no jobs done around the house for a while now!

not bad for a first timer  :smiling:   one tip I'll give you ... try adjusting levels (or brightness if you don't have levels in Gimp) to make the layer background darker. On the top left one you can still see the layer edges as the background is slightly red by adjusting it you will find it blends better. But a good attempt and nice to see you learning something from my post... Please pass on my apologies to your family
