The first one definitely lends itself to mono but I'm not sure about the second one, the double yellow lines may be white but my eye is still seeing yellow which sort of spoils the effect a bit :(

Just a judicious crop at the bottom to remove the lines does help and I think it works better with mono then.

Thanks Bugs, I cropped the second image then restored it again because it took away the steepness of the hill. But for someone like yourself who does not know the location, I can see how the cropped image would work. I think I'll end up cropping again; all part of the learning process.

I've been watching a lot of tutorials on Youtube. I selectively lightened the exposure of the walls in the second image to try and draw the viewers eyes down the road. I also cropped out the speed limit, parking zone and waste bin; there is practically very little left of the picture I saw in the viewfinder.

Thankyou for your kind comments Fuzzy, it means a lot to me as a relative newcomer. I have to say, the friendliness of this forum means I don't feel threatened or intimidated when I post my images. I have received nothing but support and encouragement from everyone whom I have had the pleasure of meeting. This photography thing has become more than a hobby; it's a way of life. I'm beginning to see the world through new eyes!
