Time on my hands

It's my day off today so after I've done a few odd jobs around the house I planned to go out and take a few pics. I've just had a message from the missus saying we're expecting a delivery between 10 am and 9pm so "don't go anywhere". That's my day screwed up!

 

To pass time I've taken the back off the pocket watch she gave me on our wedding day. Here it is after a play with my trial version of Lightroom 5.

This is one example where 'colour popping' hasn't added anything in my opinion (maybe because those two jewels are quite subdued?). But I do like the full colour shot - the steel cogs contrast beautifully with the brass.

I like both versions, but the jewels would have stood out more in the bottom shot if they were the same colour as the top pic.

The first one is a cracking shot... very clear. I'm no fan of B&W so I'll abstain on that one.

I too prefer the first option Martyn - the bold of the gold is strong without being over the top and the contrast in the cogs & purple stones stands out nicely.
