Just about to hop in the shower this morning when I spotted this on the floor:

Not the best photo, just a quick grab to show you. This is a Whitetail Spider, easily identified by body shape and the white dot at the end of the tail. Their bite can putrify flesh for a very long time. You have to treat these bites like a snake bite, and people have lost limbs as a result of a bite, and some have had rotten flesh problems in the bite area for years and years. It's about 5 cm long, and they tend to be found in drawers or cupboards in folded clothing. We have a lot around this year and are very wary because of fearless little Kelly!

Fuji - like you I generally believe in 'let the spiders live' - but not in this case. 'Bye spider!!!

And here we have yet another little reason why I'll never go to Australia! It might be a beautiful country but if I go then I just know that these things, and their mates, would chase me into the sea where the Great Whites will be waiting!
