FORMAL FELINE PORTRAIT

Our lovable Moggie ...BIG OLLIE......was relaxing on the heron cover of our KOI pool the other day, he had nothing behind him except the sky...idea lor this kind of close up.

This was composed in camera with no cropping with careful focussing directly into his left eye with my SONY 18-200 lens wide open, hence the shallow DOF.

Big Ollie gets more and more lovable as he ages......everyone, children especially make a huge fuss of him in the back-lane.....even the neighbouring dog owners are amused at the way he sits and stares from safely behind our wooden palings..........He thinks it is great fun to languish, stretched out full length in front of vehicles as they slowly negotiate the stony potholes of the Back Lane.........he moves away only when he is ready or he is in very real danger of getting crushed:

A wonderful Pet and friend:

Beautiful, beautiful shot......perfect exposure and a fantastic angle.

Odd that you say it isn't cropped. Its almost square and a DSLR puts out a 3:2 ratio shot.

Thank you for your kind words.

Sorry BP......I obviously cropped a slice of boring sky from the LHS.......What I meant was.....that it was as close as I could get to fill the frame without cutting an ear off Big Ollie.
