According to the car it was four degrees yesterday morning while I was driving into work yet there were people daft enough to be out on the sea.

Personally I was in two minds whether to stop and take pictures or just stay in the car, keep warm and have an extra cup of coffee when I got to the shop - glad I didn't.

These two were getting in close to the side of the pier to catch the larger waves and then going hell for leather when a big one came along.

I wish I'd had more time but I had to get to work so these are the best from four runs.

All from one sequence.

The sun was very low and blocked in parts by the pier but when it hit the light was lovely.

Nikon D300s - AF-S 70-300mm VR - f11 @ 800 ISO

Switched the AF to continuous and told the camera to just use 9 of it's central 'cross type' focussing points so I had a bit of leeway with the framing. I was rattling shots off at 8fps and every single one is focussed correctly. Bit of motion blur on a few as the two lads were really belting along and the shutter speeds, even at 800iso, were hovering around 1/320s.
