New Camera

Recommended Posts

after never ever owning a NEW camera my wifey treated me to a brand new Canon 80D.  (this is not a show off thread)

its not really much different than my 70D, much newer sensor,  faster focusing and quieter, with a few modern things like NFC transfer and a built in intervalometer.

I'm VERY impressed with it.

the 70D will be sent off for a service and kept as a 2nd body.

* Nods and pretends to understand.

The Intervalometer allows you to setup your camera to take a picture at set intervals without you actually needing to do anything other than press the shutter the first time, so time lapse is an example.

NFC = Near Field Communication, it allows you to send images from your camera to a smartphone by just touching the phone to the camera. You can also do it via wi-fi or bluetooth from the 80D

Just different jargon for different cameras ...

When you are on site and someone is willing to pay for an image for social media you can send it straight to them without the need for a laptop. Just touch your phone to the camera and it downloads..

Thanks, Geoff.  I should have guessed Intervalometer but I read it as Inter-valometer rather than Interval-ometer!

I have a 60D so I thought I knew the Canon jargon, but this is "new stuff"!

I can see how that would be useful.
