EXCITING EXPERIMENT

Some of you may remember that I have, stashed away in my attic, over 300 Half Plate Glass Negatives, all around 100 years old.....about 30 years ago, the County Records Office catalogued them all then produced a box of beautiful Contact Prints from the local ones.

Since then I have been a bit scared to touch them.

Today I had a photographer mate round....he persuaded my to have a go at making Scans of each one then using PS to reverse the negative then process accordingly.

This is my first attempt. the original isn't as sharp as I would have liked, but it is a very interesting record of costume circa 1900-1910.

I now need to read up on how it should be done...if any of you know please advise:

Thank You Folks.....I have been reading up in the subject, still learning:

Here is a crop of the same pic scanned at 600 dpi this time, then worked on in PS.

Even being fully retired, this will b a daunting task. probably to be done in small stages, a few at a time?

I need to make an anti scratch template for my scanner Platen....................I am sure that others n the boxes are very sharp .......these boys havent exactly stood absolutely still as they were probably ordered to:

So glad I scanned and saved all my slides, although nowhere near as old as these. I can take my time on improving the pictures. Great project to undertake, Fuji, but, yes, time consuming. Please keep us updated - this is history in the making.
