It's taking me a while to get used to the narrow depth of field and trying to keep a steady hand but I think I'm slowly getting there.

I haven't got the steadiest of hands , so I am pleased that at least I can tell what the subjects are. :D

The first shot was with the Nikon 3000 + 200mm zoom lens,Slightly cropped.

A tiny mint shoot. The insects came as an added bonus as they couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

For the second, I used the Panasonic FZ100.

A redundant Dandilion after shedding it's seeds.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone.

Just giving myself half hour or so practice a day and looking at the exifs afterwards to see what works the best for me.

I have found that the Panasonic, being so much smaller and lighter is easier for me to handle while focusing.

I can also see what I am focusing on better via the screen as I have to use the optical viewfinder on the Nikon.

practice indoors on the table or kichen bench with anything lying around, you can get some interesting shots.

might help, if you don't have a steady hand use a monopod to steady the camera and just move it to and fro to get the focus.

very hard to get a good shot when windy so wouldn't bother, but macro is a joy.
