I feel really ancient today...Why?

 

After lunch I will be giving a presentation to Year 4 pupils at my old Infant and Junior School on its wartime history; fortunately I have memories that remain as clear as a bell, but to think that it was all 60-70 years ago is frightening.........its a totally different world now...No War, no rationing, no blackout, no Bombs, no Sirens, no back of the knee slaps, no eat every bit of your dinner or else, no absent dads and brothers, no lack of central heating or bathrooms, no Nitty Norah, no chilblains, no cod-liver oil and malt, no empitigo, no school milk, no Yanks .................and here's this old Fogey typing this on a PC then Dropboxing it to my iPad:

nitty norah.....lol fuji. i was only telling my grand kids about nitty norah the other day. i was also trying to explain to them that every so many streets in london had a dr who tardis on the corner and that they were police boxes. and their little faces when i told them about the public baths, that they was not just a place for swimming, but for getting a bath and your washing done too.......lol

 

of course i was not around in the war, but even in the sixties we did still have what were known as 'bomb debris' sites, we used to play for hours in old bombed out buildings. another thing we never had then...flipping health and safety gone mad!

Can't remember Nitty Norah, but I can just remember rationing, and the first time I ever saw TV - Muffin, the Mule - and I also remember cod liver oil and malt!!
