Feeding time

I took some shots of the birds in the garden today. It's been an overcast day and I needed to use a high ISO so image quality could be better (plus they were cropped). I set the camera up on a tripod close to the feeders and set the focus before going inside the house to avoid scaring the birds and used a remote shutter release.

Great set Mark. Theres something at the back of my mind that when I first bought my 450 you could go onto a Canon site and down load different shutter sounds including a silent one. I might be mistaken about this but it might be worth checking

Hi Mark just googled for shutter sounds and got more or less the same answer. Seems the mirror flip up is also a major source of noise . Must have been on the funny fags when I saw the download first time  :innocent:

Thanks.

I might have another go at editing the long tailed tit photo tomorrow to try and reduce the noise if I can.

I may even get another chance to capture more photos of the LLT as they regularly come to the feeders each day. Capturing the same expression may not happen again though.

Lovely set.

For web viewing I'd be much more aggressive with the crops, they'll still be sharp - honest.

If you have photoshop or similar sharpen the image then history brush back one step the bits surrounding the bird. Stops the noise showing. Other way is to create a new layer, sharpen it then erase down to the bottom one. You could even blur the underneath layer to exaggerate the softness.

The biggest problem with the LLT photo is that I got the exposure wrong and it came out too dark. Camera RAW helped to correct the exposure but increased the noise. Thanks for the advice though, I'll try it out.
