Gateshead

Recommended Posts

I had never visited Gateshead High Street until I started working there so while it is a bit of a hell-hole it is new to me and worth an explore. Loads going on as Tesco's pulled down the Get Carter car park and are building a new shopping complex which will have flats and a town square in it. Its a huge thing with rather interesting architecture in parts...........ripe for a bit of photography.

I've met a fair few people from my new company and I get the impression they think I'm a bit strange.

I always have a camera with me, my Billingham is now my daily companion with the K30 and the Galaxy in it - as well as my iPhone in my pocket. Most of them don't have a camera, possibly a basic cheap thing that comes out on holidays but nothing more, why should they really its not a photography shop and they're not interested in photography as a hobby. I'm not going to change though and I still take every opportunity to grab a few images either while traveling to work, popping out for a break or just while sitting in my office.

All iPhone in this thread and all Instagram processed.

Not everyones cup of tea but its my current choice when it comes to documenting day-to-day happenings.

The last shot is the name plate on a safe in my office. When the Money Shop took the building on years ago it was there, they couldn't open it and because its so damn enormous they just left it - you have noooooo idea how much I want to see inside it.

What a fascinating set of pics BP, I am so pleased that you see to have bounced back so quickly, not only on the job front, but on the photography front also. I am always impressed by what you and your iPhone can achieve.

The architecture you feature is very similar to that at Warwick University that I featured in my posts quite recently.

As to carrying a camera everywhere, in small my home town most don't even comment on it now, out if town, it may get a few glances, or even favorable comments from other keen photographers wishing they could pluck up the courage.

Really interesting, BP. Camera phones are so good these days, aren't they?

I would be like you, and so inquisitive to see what's inside the safe.

I must remember to start putting my little Olympus compact in my bag again. I never used to be without it  until I used a smaller bag for a while.

Not sure who had the building before us so no idea whats in there - if anything.

I've had a fiddle but there's two massive locks and the biggest hinges I've even seen - thing about safes is they're safe.

This plaque comes off though, wonder if its worth anything on eBay...........

maybe you should challenge people to crack the safe .... maybe do it for a local charity.... people can pay to try to open it within a certain amount of time ? ... would be a nice way to find out whats in it and get some good publicity for the shop lol
