SEEING IN BLACK and WHITE

Seeing in Black and white isn't to everyone's taste, but, if you haven't tried it, can I encourage you to do so.....there is a saying......Photograph a person in colour and you capture their clothes.................but photograph them in mono and you capture their Soul.

These were shot through the Vintage 29 mm lens I used the other day.....BP questioned it minimum focusing distance....sorry Robin....I made my usual numbers errors.....what I did discover is....that set on 5.6 it focuses from infinity down to around 15 feet, as demonstrated here.

Once I set it, it became literally a...Point and Shoot ...session:

Thank you all....

Kev.....those characters are buying fish from a market stall, the lady is offering up a banknote in exchange for her purchases.....her smartly dresses ( ex military??) husband is looking on.

This was my attempt at achieving a Leica-Look to my mono-processing.....a rich range of tones from white to that deep velvety black...

Your observations are much appreciated.

The trick is to seeing and creating a strong image is to do so with colour or monochrome as and end result in your mind. Typically when I press the shutter button I know which end result I want and will alter the way I take it knowing they are rarely interchangeable.
