I think that the title sums up, this latest pic of yours truly...taken by one of my mates in Costa this morning............................Why is t very gritty/noisy?

Because the original is very dark I had to open it in Auto to see any detail, resulting in lots of noise.... A Film Noir filter seemed to sort it out for posting here:

Thnks Denis..... I handed my camera over to my pal, to show him that it was set on.....Silent-Mode...for stealthy street work.....He just pointed the camera, it focused gen he pressed the shutter, just to hear how quiet it was......totally silent actually.

The ISO was set for a sunny outside so 200, it is a miracle that PS CS6 did what it did, when I pressed Open in Auto.....I simply went to ....Silver Efex....Film Noir....and chose one of those...no real fading done.

I like the noise in this case.

Geoff!

Thank you!       I am so pleased that you can see that, I used to hate noisy mono shots, but since learning more about pastt practices,mI am beginning to appreciate them more  and more.

My mate deserves a coffee???......Nooooo!....they were my settings in camera, and I processed the shot in Nik Silver Effex.......all he did was point then press the shutter ?

In reality, he is a top-notch ex Wedding Photographer, who used to run his own shop, his camera's of choice then, were Rollieflex but now, in retirement it's  a Leica, because, he can.

It is a wonder we speak to each other,  because our approaches to photography are as ...chalk and cheese.....He is so bloody technical, a perfectionist in fact.....whereas I'm all Arty-Farty, with hardly a thought towards the techie side.....if I like it....I shoot.

I much appreciate you input.
