A Sad Day

Guinness the black and white cat was our neighbours pet but over the last 5 years spent so much time kicking around in our garden, lying in the sun, chasing the leaves, trying to catch the bees we came to love her as a friend, someone who called round any chance she got. Guinness would quite happy jump up on sit on my lap all day if I let her; she was 14 years old going on 5 and today our neighbour came over to tell me she had to have the cat put to sleep. Guinness had been attacked by a larger cat and suffered several deep bites to the back of her neck, then had a heart attack followed by a stroke brought on, according to the vet, by the attack.  Because of the medical costs to treat the stroke and the unlikely success of Guinness recovering the vet thought it kinder to put the cat down.

I’m sure there are more important things in the world but for me today I feel I have lost a friend and the coming spring/summer just will not be the same without the little black and white cat trotting across our lawn – RIP Guinness.
