annie... like almost every species they are declining in numbers, but it was very nice to see literally hundreds of Lapwings in the lower reaches of the River Severn today.

I'd be very surprised if that were true Annie, not that I would ever dream of calling you a liar of course , you have probably seen plenty without realising. They tend to gather in great numbers in the centre of newly ploughed fields and have a very distinctive peewit call, Peewit is their alternative name and how I first knew them.

your not wrong phil.....until i sat watching the birds in the garden i had never seen a long tailed tit or a wren...of course i had, i just had no interest before...
