I learnt to drive in an Austin Princess and my Dads Rover 3.5 Coupe (The PB5 model) and my instructor always knew when I'd been driving the Rover - I can still remember the number plate, as once I'd passed my test I used to drive it a lot and was always getting stopped by the police as I was a young lad in a big flashy and obvious car...

Yes, this was in the 70's too, very late 70's, it was white with white walled tyres, my Dad always wanted a Rolls but couldn't afford one, so this was the closest he got until almost 25 years later when he did get a Rolls

We   were driving back from the Chelsea Flower show in ousr when a drunken driver sped through a red light and we smashed into him ! I 've got a photo of it somewhere as I jumped out once I checked the kids were ok and took pics of it all as evidence before the police arrived... I  think it was a practica  or a minolta I had at the time ...
