nanny, i have wrapped myself up and sat out in the garden on a kitchen stall....my hands yesterday went blue with the cold..but i am enjoying it. i really want to get a shot of a blue tit. i have made loads of feeders from last years wicker hanging baskets, just sit a dinner plate in them ... perfect.

I'm pretty sure it's a Song Thrush born last spring, that would account for the colouring in the feathers being less intense than they would be in an older bird. If anyone knows different then please correct me. A more full on shot would have comfirmed it one way or the other.... so annie get your hat and coat on again and get out there... :coldb:

After thought: A Song Thrush has much paler legs than a Blackbird.

I had to ask someone about my shot of the young blackbird on the fence. I hadn't had such a young one come into the garden before that.

I think it took them a while to get used to the last of my cats being gone as we had them for many years and not many birds ventured into the garden then.
