Just for a little Easter fun now the site seems to be running properly, I thought I would start a 'funny place names' thread.  The idea came to me when I saw Ryewolf's 'All Alone Road'.

I will kick it off with .........

Bell End in Worcestershire

Good idea Chrissy ;)

We have a sign not that far from here that says

To -Old Bolingbrook and Mavis Enderby (both village names)

and some wag hug a notice under it saying 'a baby boy 10ilbs' - unfortunately the local highways have now removed it!

We also have many names that are not pronounced as they are written/spelt.  (I'm sure others do too)

I really like some of these... Good idea Chrissie . Love that "baby boy  10 ibs" one Colin . Spent ages looking for one I took 30 years ago but haven't found it ... It was a notice on the door to a residential home for the deaf. It just said ,

"Visitors please ring the bell and wait!"
