Portrait session with my daughter

All beautifully done with the last two being my favourites .

I get frustrated because my two teenage granddaughters now hide if they see a camera pointed at them, both very attractive young ladies, but there are so many cameras around nowadays that having a more formal portrait done isn't as special as it used to be.

My youngest grandson and granddaughter are still at an age when they quite like the attention and will stand or sit still long enough for a decent portrait to be recorded.

What annoys me though.....is that their parents will pay an absolute fortune for sets of rather wooden looking School photographs, or for pics taken at functions.

As you all know I am better at persuading complete strangers to pose for Street Portraits.....that can be a real challenge, especally to get a decent background and camera settings but fun.

Great set of images, she looks like she had fun and the expressions benefit from it.

Couple of points:

The white balance is all over the shop - did you fix it or was it on auto. If you shot RAW you could set it for the first file and copy the setting so they all look the same.

The images look a bit contrasty and almost harsh. Softening the processing a little will give a more gentle skin tone.

Looking at the catchlights I'm going to take a guess and say you just have the one light source - get a ruddy geet big sheet of white card and prop it up in front of her to bounce some light under her chin to soften the shadows.

thanks all,

lighting is a problem, had one main flash bounced off a white brolly next to the camera in front of her, a 500 watt haligon lamp on the floor to her left and a lamp to the right. now have another flash so i'll have another go sometime to see how they turn out. i'll have one to the left and the other to the right, both in front facing her.

i don't bother too much on the contrast/colour etc as they were taken for three people who all have different tastes, it they ask i can change them slightly.
