Nice idea

A bit of cropping left and top might improve composition

If you have access to take it again, you could maybe wait until the suns just coming up which may dim the lights and put a bit of detail in the sky

Playing with the colour balance might be somthing else that could be done

Would it improve it? dont know but worth a try

His name is pronounced bump-sa

you can find his story here

Thanks for your thoughts. Interesting you say to lose the light at the rear of the statue, it was a decision of mine to keep it in as I thought it helped put some detail in that area.

I will indeed return when I have a bit more time ( that day I needed to push on ) I agree that some detail in the sky would be good & in fact I was torn that morning, do I stay till the light comes in or do I get to where I needed to be! In truth it was so dark looking through the viewfinder that I could not make out the dogs hind foot. That would explain why it is so tight in the frame. I will try harder to improve on this shot next time.

I also visit Bamse's grave a few times of the year. He was quite a dog.
