Fungus - Any Idea What?

Yes, that's pretty much the colour they were, just checked the original, the only thing I did was brighten the image to compensate for the -2/3rds ev setting. The cap of the mushroom was flat across the top, I thought it might be a type of bracket fungus.

I am wondering if they are Fly Agaric, old ones well past their best. The white warts wash off with age and rain and we have certainly had plenty of that.

Will be interesting to see what Judy comes up with.

Rye, have you noticed the scary face hiding in your picture...lol

Ron

Don't think it's Fly Agaric, they're pretty distinctive and I've seen them before with and without the spots.

I hadn't noticed the face until you mentioned it but now I can.

Alas I couldn't see the underside, the branch was till big to move and photograph one handed and didn't want to damage the fungi by turning it over. I've been looking closely at the spots and zoomed in they look more like holes rather than spots.

Thanks for all your help guys, I'm prepared to go with Cinnabar Red Polypore, when I looked on a few websites about Woodnook Vale it did say that 85 different species of fungi had been identified, several of them notable, hence not wanting to disturb it incase it was a rare species.
