November afternoon sunshine falling on the west front of Lincoln Cathedral, once the tallest building in the world.

Ok it was during the1500's and the towers did have spires but I think the old girl is still look good.

It is one of my favourite Cathedrals Colin .... She looks a grand old lady still . ... And  I really like the rooftop shadows in the late sunshine. You chose a nice good vantage point to take this nicely composed image  ... I do like it.

I do like the colours on the front, eary evening? I also did a bit of Googling, it was completed in 1315 and the tallest spire was 160m or 520ish ft in old money it wasn't until 1549 that the tallest centre spire blew down. Without the tallest spire it's down to 83m (272ft). I think that tallest structure that was tallest for the longest has got to be the great pyramid of Giza.

Thanks All for commenting

Ryewolf - The Cathedral was originally a Norman fort converted around 1092 (you can still see the original frontage that had been extended out and up).

Lincoln Castle has recently fully opened up the walls to some great views and that is where I am standing, I have been waiting for the earler nights to roll in as the castle close at 4.30 and I'm now hoping we might get a little snow (not too much or they close off the walls).
