I'd don't even have a garden, I have a yard but during the spring and summer months all sorts of flowers and plants popup, which attracts insects, which attract birds, so it tends to get a bit overgrown. I also put out meal worms mostly on the ground - as many birds usually search for food that way. I've seen Magpies, Jackdaws, Pied and Grey Wagtails, Blackbirds, Robins and a female Black Redstart land in my yard. One morning I heard a Magpie, well shouting is the nearest I can explain, when I looked out it was sat on the kitchen roof - just above my office - and there was a cat sat on the roof of the out-building. Magpies do make a lot noise when they can't get to the food, it comes almost everyday, I usually hear it before I see it
