Late afternoon I decided to drive upto Settle, so arrived at around 4pm, but nothing really grabbed me so I set off for Stainforth, but again nothing really caught my eye. As I could see Pen-y-ghent I thought I'd drive further up and see what could be found. I drove upto Dry Rigg Quarry, these 3 were taken over approx 45 mins (at 6pm-ish) and the light did vary quite a lot, the sun was behind me. I couldn't decide which of the 3 I liked best, so thought would see what everyone here thought.

Hard to choose between the three, but I think number 1 pips it for me. It seems to have a little more drama than the other two.

A magnificent bit of Britain, though Ingleborough is the only hill I've walked in this area. Alfred Wainwright was proper put out that Ingleborough was only classified as a hill - he said it was "every inch a mountain".

Thanks Heather, JW and Korky, all three were a nice bonus to what had been, up to that piont, very unfruitful. Still I don't mind it gets me out and about, I'd only planned to go there if nothing in Settle and Stainforth caught my eye. I think no3 just does it over no1 for me, on any other day I might have been very pleased with no2.
