By-Pass Poppies

Found at the side of a new By-Pass north of Preston where the verges have been sown with Poppies and Daisies. .  One of Lancashire County Council's more thoughtful ideas.

Quite a few councils are doing this now I notice.... it saves money. Planting formal blooms is labour intensive  and mowing  verges is also costly as well as not being very environmentally friendly destroying habitat etc ...  you’ve composed the image really nicely too as Hatter says ..  we do have some beautiful “ wild “ flowers don’t we ?

Thanks Clicks. Yes we do.  The verges were a riot of colour before we went to Porto but the hot weather has killed off most of the Poppies.  The Daises have survived though.
